Embark on a 5-day private tour from Dublin, leaving the hustle and bustle of the capital city behind. Journey through the scenic rolling green hills and charming countryside of Ireland to arrive in County Donegal.
‘Donegal Tour Guide’ will arrange all transportation for your private multi-day trip to County Donegal in the North west of Ireland.
Below is a suggested itinerary for an extended tour starting in Dublin. We can however tailor this to start from anywhere in Ireland.
Day 2: Sliabh Liag Cliffs and Glencolumbcille
Taking the coastal route from Donegal Town, we will visit Sliabh Liag, the highest accessible sea cliffs in Europe. We will pass through many towns and villages including Killybegs, Ireland’s premier fishing harbour. Step back in time at Glencolmcille Folk Village and see how life was here a century ago.
Day 3: Glenveagh National Park and Gaeltacht
Travelling through the Irish speaking Donegal Gaeltacht and vast peat boglands of rural Donegal, we will visit Fanad Lighthouse, one of the Signature points on Donegal’s Wild Atlantic Way. By afternoon, we will explore Glenveagh National Park and Castle to learn about the deeds (good and bad) of its former owners.
Day 4: Malin Head and Inishowen
Travel north through Inishowen, Ireland’s largest peninsula. Visit Grianan of Aileach, the ancient seat of power of the Ulster chieftains and Lough Swilly, the inspiration for ‘Amazing Grace’. Step back in time at Doagh Famine Village and experience how life used to be in the area. Your day culminates by reaching Malin Head, Ireland’s most Northerly point and the filming location of Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi.
Your private tour to County Donegal is completely customisable, based on your group’s interests and timeframe available. Chauffeur collection from and drop off to anywhere in Ireland means that you don’t have to worry about car hire or public transport during your Irish vacation.
